What is counselling, and how can it help me?
Counselling provides a safe, confidential space where you can talk about your thoughts, feelings, and challenges with a trained professional. It can help you gain clarity, develop coping strategies, and improve your mental well-being.
How do I know if I need counselling?
There’s no right or wrong time to start counselling. If you're feeling stressed, anxious, down, or just not yourself, chatting to a professional can help. You don’t need to wait until things get really bad—early support makes a big difference.
What issues does Head Knot specialise in?
Head Knot’s counsellor, Lisa, specialises in men’s mental health, with a focus on issues like stress, anxiety, loss of direction, depression, gambling, and suicide prevention. Her approach is tailored to young men aged 19-40, offering early intervention to prevent crises later in life.
Is everything I say confidential?
Yes, counselling is confidential. What you share stays private, except in cases where there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, or when legally required (such as court orders). If you have any concerns about confidentiality, this can discussed during your consultation call or at your first session.
How many sessions will I need?
It varies for everyone. Some people benefit from a few sessions, while others prefer ongoing support. In your first session, your goals for counselling will be discussed as well as what approaches may work best for you.
